100 Places to Remember Before they Disappear...

When I opened my browser a few minutes ago, the headline at msnbc.com is "100 places to remember before they disappear." After following the link, I discovered that this is actually a published book. The following link is the website about the 100 Places book and their project to raise global awareness.

If you click on "The 100 Places" on the navigation bar, it's interesting to watch the locations pop up all over the globe.

I enjoyed the irony of this article as I spent last night reading several articles so I thought I'd share!

  1. I found it very interesting to watch the dots appear across the globe signifying places that are soon going to "disappear". It really draws the audience in to see that it is happening all over the world. To me though, this seemed more like a tourist type site for people to be like "We HAVE to go to the Great Barrier Reef this summer or else it's going to disappear and we'll never be able to!" Almost like a joke, but it is a good way to sell the idea of global warming. People are going to maybe click on the link to look at places that they would like to visit and then venture over to the links on the side of the website to learn more about global warming and what it is and ways to help prevent it. It seemed like a more discreet way of promoting the idea of global warming rather than instilling fear in people or making them feel guilty that it is their fault that the earth is deteriorating.
