Somehow traffic pylons were brought up during a class, and this is the first thing I thought of.
Geekologie: Student Makes Barrel Monster, Gets Arrested
Artist Joseph Carnavale steals these things and turns them into art. His website is dedicated to breaking into places he's not supposed to be, tagging property he doesn't own, and basically feeling like a rebel without accomplishing anything of substance beyond the act of "putting one over the Man."
Hey -- I like the idea of rebelling against the system and homesteading things that aren't owned by anyone (if an object is owned by the government and the people are prohibited from taking it, but at the same time the government is funded by the people, how is it wrong to take back that object?) and I really enjoy his website and his artwork.
But then he criticizes anyone who would speak out against him as a boring coward. So apparently he's just kind of a dick.
